dbzphoto.com: About

When I was 13 years old, I begged my parents for a 35mm camera. My older cousin, Kurt, had introduced me to flower and nature photography, mostly at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Under the Christmas tree that year I found a Yashica Lynx 5000, and the inspriation I received from Kurt has carried through my entire life.

Since then, I've had a succession of Canon 35mm and digital cameras. For me photography is a form of expression that satisfies the visual side of my brain.

In the past two years, I've studied with Art Wolfe, Kerry Drager, Tony Sweet, Brenda Tharp and Jim Zuckerman. They've each taught me valuable and very different lessons. I'm a child of the city and enjoy photographing the lights, colors and action of the urban environment. But I'm also an avid hiker and seek out opportunities to photograph landscapes, seascapes and wildlife. Other interests include cars, public gardens, zoos and aquariums.

The other way I serve my visual creative drive is through my work as co-owner of Frame Productions, Inc., an award-winning content development and video production company. I am a member of the International Academy of the Visual Arts, an invitation-only organization of leading professionals dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.

My verbal side has been the driver for my professional career, however. I've served as the editor or senior editor of half a dozen magazines and newsletters and I was the New York Editor for Ward’s, a leading Detroit-based publisher of automotive industry trade magazines and newsletters. My byline has also appeared in major daily newspapers such as the San Francisco Chronicle, Newsday and the San Jose Mercury News, in magazines such as Changing Times and Trains, and online. I've written and produced well over 100 scripts.
